Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)Training Course

The emergency first aid at work course is for you if you are seeking a role as an emergency first aider in the workplace or if you need to refresh your existing fist aid qualification and competence.
All organisations are required to provide for first aid requirements in accordance with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) First Aid Regulations 1981 and where a need is identified through a risk assessment. Emergency First Aid at Work Course (HSE)
This one day (6 hour) duration EFAW Training course is designed to be undertaken by any individual operating in a regulated role as an emergency first aider in a work setting. The qualification is however equally applicable for those individuals who provide for voluntary activities such as: charities, voluntary, children and youth organisations, etc.
This Goldcross emergency first aid at work course is suitable for workplaces, with up to 50 employees, operating in a low hazard setting. It is also recommended for larger organisations and those with more complex hazards, where additional skilled staff are required to support more qualified individuals who posess the 3 day First Aid at Work (FAW) qualification.
Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Syllabus
The Goldcross EFAW training programme utilises a variety of teaching techniques to meet the needs of individuals and upon completion delegates will have a greater understanding of the requirements in delivering emergency first aid at work to the appropriate level.
The syllabus includes:
- Casualty Incident Management: including the need for recording and reporting
- Situational Awareness and Assessment: enabling individuals to act safely, effectively and promptly in an emergency
- Casualty Examination
- Unconcious casualties
- Adult basic life support
- Control of Bleeding
- Strains and Sprains
- Treating shock
- Limb immobilization
- Other illnesses: including siezure
- The provision of appropriate first aid for minor injuries: small cuts, bruises, minor burns and scalds, etc
EFAW (HSE) Assessment
Delegates will be continuously assessed throught the course by the tutor and will undertake a short multiple-choice exam.
