The Cskills Level 3 NVQ Diploma iin Construction Contracting Operations – General is aimed at individuals working within the construction sector in a supervisory position or intending to move into a supervisory role.
The qualification will allow you to develop your knowledge and understanding and to demonstrate your competence in a real workplace environment within the construction industry.
As the Cskills Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Construction Contracting has been developed for achievement in a real workplace environment you will need to be employed to undertake this qualification.
This Level 3 Construction NVQ Diploma meets the requirements set by the CSCS for the Gold Supervisor Card.
What do I Need To Do To Obtain this L3 Construction NVQ?
This qualification consists of four (4) Mandatory Units and fifteen (15) Optional Units. In order to achieve the award delegates must successfully complete all four (4) Mandatory units and achieve forty (40) credits from the fifteen (15) Optional Units on offer. Your assessor will discuss this with you in detail to ensure that you focus your efforts in the correct areas and on the appropriate units.

Construction Site NVQ’s recognise the broad range of activities undertaken on a construction site and have been developed to reflect the different skills and responsibilities required accordingly. You will need to provide a variety of evidence from your workplace to detail your proficiency and technical knowledge such as producing plans for specific activities, minutes of meetings and your involvement in managing resources and overcoming problems.
Our easy to use ‘on-line portfolio’ system allows delegates to take this qualification in a flexible manner at a time and location that suits them and you will be guided through the qualification requirements by your assessor at each and every step.
Once you have gathered you evidence your assessor will go through the portfolio with you, make any recommendations and provide feedback as necessary. When you have provided for the feedback and updated your portfolio (as and if necessary) it will be passed to the IQA who will review your evidence and determine whether you have successfully completed the qualification.
How This L3 Construction Contracting NVQ Is Structured
The Cskills Level 3 in Construction Contracting conists of:
a. Mandatory units – There are four (4) mandatory units that must be passed to gain the qualification.

What Will My Assessor Do?
At the very start of your NVQ (upon enrolment) you will be assigned an assessor who will:
a. Undertake an initial induction with you to determine your readiness to undertake this qualification.
b. Guide you through the NVQ process from start to finish.
c. Monitor your progress throughout the time you are undertaking your Level 3 Construction Contracting Operation NVQ. This may be done in a number of different ways such as, confirming the suitability of evidence provided from your workplace activities, undertaking professional discussions with you, undertaking formal observations, requiring you to provide witness testimonials, etc.
d. Advise you as to the evidence you will need to provide in order to complete each specific unit and your overall portfolio.
e. Guide you (where appropriate) in gathering the required evidence.
f. Advise you when your portfolio is ready for submission to the accreditors Independent Quality Advisor (IQA) for the award.
How Long Does This Construction Contracting Operations Level 3 NVQ Take To Complete?
The NOCN Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations – General, program requires you to complete four (4) mandatory units and obtain forty credits from fifteen (15) optional units.
The minimum guided learning hours for this qualification is 310 hours – this is the recommended time a learner spends in activities under the immediate guidance or supervision of a lecturer, supervisor or tutor (this includes assessment if under supervision).
The estimated TQT (Total Qualification time) for this qualification is 900 hours – this is the total time in which a delegate could reasonably be expected to achieve the qualification.
As an estimate therefore delegates can expect to complete the qualification within a one (1) to four (4) month period.
There are however many factors that impact the time required to complete this qualification not least the delegates existing, experience and qualifications, and their preparedness/readiness to undertake it.
A number of delegates will be in a position where they can gather evidence very quickly whilst others may require considerably more time. Are There Any Examinations?
Unlike academic qualifications the NVQ is an assessment of your vocational ability and as such there is no examination requirement. You will however be required to build an ‘on-line’ portfolio providing work-based evidence that you meet the specified standards. We will guide you through this process!

Yes – Recognising Prior Learning is an assessment process that recognises learning that has its origins in a learner’s experience and/or previous formal and informal learning contexts. This includes knowledge and skills gained within school, college, university and outside formal learning situations such as through life, employment, apprenticeships and other work experiences.
Why Should I Do This NVQ?
This qualification prepares individuals and provides recognition of the competence of individuals to act as a supervisor within the construction industry. On completing the NVQ you will be in a position to apply for a CSCS Gold Supervisors Card once you have also undertaken the required CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test.
Employers throughout construction recognise the validity of NVQs and readily encourage individuals to undertake them and as such they will stand you in good stead throughout your career.
Is This Construction Level 3 NVQ Accredited?
This Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations – General is a Cskills award accredited by the NOCN Group.
The qualification is recognised by Ofqual at Level 3 and it meets the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) requirements for the Gold Supervisors card.
What Payment Options Are There?

You will need to make your claim retrospectively and meet CITB application requirements, i.e:
- Be a CITB-registered employer
- Directly employ 1-250 individuals
- Have had any previously CITB funded project signed off as complete.
