NVQ Assessor

NVQ Assessor

Goldcross HSEQ are seeking a passionate and dedicated health and safety professional to join our NVQ assessment team.

Your role will be to assess and provide guidance (as appropriate) to meet Goldcross HSEQ standards, enabling delegates to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding to achieve vocational qualifications and enhance success rates.

You will be responsible for an agreed case load of delegates and provide occupational guidance and assessment. This may take place in a variety of environments including; on-site assessments in the workplace, remotely (online) or a training centre.

Assessors who hold an Internal Verification qualification will also be expected to carry out verification duties as appropriate.

Requirement:    Full Time (20 days/month) – Permanent and or Self Employed

Salary:                 circa £45,000 + overtime opportunities + bonus scheme

Description:       Applicants for this role will be highly engaging individuals who have a passion for health and safety, and assisting individuals in their ongoing development.  You will be:

  • A professional and confident communicator with the ability to deliver engaging health and safety training to a broad range of individuals.
  • Self-motivated and able to make autonomous decisions in line with company procedures.
  • Comfortable with working and delivering training courses both in the classroom and remotely.
  • Willing to travel to other locations (within 1.5hrs of your base location).

Successful applicants will be required to work 5 days per week (occasional evenings) to fit in with clients and on-site working times.

Primary Duties:

  • To maintain and promote National and awarding body standards, ensuring quality of provision.
  • Plan assessment visits with delegates and employers as necessary, throughout enrolment to programme completion, setting clear milestones.
  • To plan with the delegate(s); targets and action plans to ensure progress through the NVQ and/or competency qualifications.
  • To provide guidance and reasonable assistance to enable delates in portfolio building and updating, informing the management when issues arise.
  • To assist delegates in mapping evidence for the competency and knowledge components ensuring advice on validity, authenticity and how their evidence can be integrated into functional skills / key skills as well as ERR and PLTS where appropriate.
  • To be responsible for monitoring and completing accurate documentation on the delegate(s) progress through the NVQ programme (including on-line e-portfolio’s) and individual action/assessment plans and submitting these on a two-weekly basis to management.
  • To undertake a review for each delegate in line with Goldcross procedures and ensure completed units are signed off and submitted for internal verification on a monthly basis.
  • To be responsible for the timely and effective assessment of delegates in the workplace as necessary, ensuring necessary planning and feedback is negotiated and recorded, to meet awarding body standards.
  • To attend regular assessor/internal verification meetings and other team meetings to discuss delegate(s) performance and progress, the national standards and issues in their implementation.
  • To work with Internal and External Verifier’s to ensure delegate portfolios satisfy awarding body criteria.
  • Effectively manage administration, travel, quality assurance, standardisation, assessment and training support to meet the needs of all delegates within an agreed timetable, which may include occasional weekend and evening work if required.
  • To report back to management any problems related to delegates work assessments and or documentation.
  • To manage one day seminars at Goldcross venues.

General Duties:

  • To participate fully in the Staff Review process according to Goldcross HSEQ requirements and undertake training as required.
  • To keep up-to-date with all quality improvement initiatives and to be aware of, and meet, service standards for Goldcross HSEQ.
  • To propose any ideas that may help to promote and extend Goldcross HSEQ’s reputation and the efficient running of the Goldcross HSEQ NVQ programme.
  • To undertake all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Goldcross HSEQ policies inclusive of Equal Opportunities, Data Protection, Child and Vulnerable Adult protection, and to report any concerns to the appropriate person.
  • To use appropriate management information to recognise and support diversity in the delegate cohort.
  • To work safely, consider the safety of others and work within the guidelines stated in the Goldcross HSEQ Health and Safety Policy.
  • To be available to assist in enrolment activities/procedures, this may require additional hours on occasion including evenings and weekends.

Candidates will be proficient in the use of a computer/laptop and with using Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Teams.

Desirable Experience:

Candidates will be experienced in the delivery of; CITB awards, IOSH or NEBOSH training courses.

Professional Membership:

Candidates will be a member of one of the following professional organizations at the indicated level or higher: –

  • Technical member IOSH (TechIOSH)
  • Associate Member IIRSM (AIIRSM)
