 What do I Need To Do To Obtain this L2 Diploma in Construction and Civil Engineering Operations – Concreting NVQ?
This qualification consists of five (5) mandatory units and sixteen (16) optional units. In order to achieve a pass delegates must successfully complete all five (5) mandatory units and one (1) optional unit from the available sixteen. Your assessor will discuss this with you in detail to ensure that you focus your efforts in the correct areas and on the appropriate units.
Construction Site NVQ’s recognise the broad range of activities undertaken on a construction site and have been developed to reflect the different skills and responsibilities required accordingly. Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements to take this Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Construction and Civil Engineering Operations (Concreting). It can be undertaken without any previous training or qualifications in this subject area.
Delegates must however be over the age of 16 and be in employment in the subject area.
On enrolment your allocated assessor will undertake an initial assessment with you to evaluate your skills and knowledge in the subject area. What Will My Assessor Do?
At the very start of your NVQ (upon enrolment) you will be assigned an assessor who will:
a.  Undertake an initial induction with you to determine your readiness to undertake this qualification.
b.  Guide you through the NVQ process from start to finish.
c.  Monitor your progress throughout the time you are undertaking your Level 2 Construction NVQ. This may be done in a number of different ways such as, confirming the suitability of evidence provided from your workplace activities, undertaking professional discussions with you, undertaking formal observations, requiring you to provide witness testimonials, site visits, etc.
d.  Advise you as to the evidence you will need to provide in order to complete each specific unit and your overall portfolio.
e.  Guide you (where appropriate) in gathering the required evidence.
f.  Advise you when your portfolio is ready for submission to the accreditors Independent Quality Advisor (IQA) for the award.
How Long Does This Construction Level 2 NVQ Take To Complete?
This NOCN Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Construction and Civil Engineering Operations – Concreting program requires you to obtain a specified number of units from those available.
The minimum guided learning hours for this qualification is 329 hours – this is the recommended time a learner spends in activities under the immediate guidance or supervision of a lecturer, supervisor or tutor (this includes assessment if under supervision).
The estimated TQT (Total Qualification time) for this qualification is 570 hours – this is the total time in which a delegate could reasonably be expected to achieve the qualification.
As an estimate therefore delegates can expect to complete the qualification within a two (2) to three (3) month period dependent on the time that they can reasonably spend on the qualification.
There are however many factors that impact the time required to complete the qualification not least the delegates existing, experience and qualifications, and their preparedness/readiness to undertake it. Importantly should you already have some experience or fomal qualifications in the specified areas you may be able to reduce this down to a number of weeks via recognition of prior learning (RPL).
A number of delegates will be in a position where they can gather evidence very quickly whilst others may require considerably more time. Are There Any Examinations?
Unlike academic qualifications the NVQ is an assessment of your vocational ability and as such there is no examination requirement. You will however be required to build an ‘on-line’ portfolio providing work-based evidence that you meet the specified standards. We will guide you through this process!

Yes – Recognising Prior Learning is an assessment process that recognises learning that has its origins in a learner’s experience and/or previous formal and informal learning contexts. On completing the NVQ you will be in a position to apply for a CSCS Blue SKilled Workers Card once you have also undertaken the required CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test.
Employers throughout construction recognise the validity of NVQs and readily encourage individuals to undertake them and as such they will stand you in good stead throughout your career.
Is This Construction Level 2 NVQ Accredited?
This Level Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Site Carpentry (Construction) is accredited by the NOCN Group.
The qualification is recognised by Ofqual at Level 2 and it meets the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) requirements for the Ble Skilled Worker card.
What Payment Options Are There?
This NVQ can be paid for via the Goldcross Training interest free ‘NVQ Payment Plan’, allowing you to spread payment over a four (4) month period should you require to do so. This option will be available on the purchase screen if booking online or can be requested when booking over the telephone.
Please note however that Goldcross training requires full payment for the NVQ prior to its submission to the IQA for assessment.
Delegates are also able to utilise PayPal pay in 3 should that be preferable.
Can a CITB Grant Be Claimed For This NVQ?
This Level 2 Construction NVQ meets the requirements for CITB Skills and Training Fund & Grants.
You will need to make your claim retrospectively and meet CITB application requirements, i.e:
- Be a CITB-registered employer
- Directly employ 1-250 individuals
- Have had any previously CITB funded project signed off as complete.
