The Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is aimed at individuals working across industry and aims to equip learners with the knowledge and understanding to progress into a job role in health and safety.

The qualification is generic in nature and therefore suitable for those wishing to work in health and safety positions in various sectors.

As the Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety qualification has been developed for achievement in a real workplace environment you will need to be employed to undertake this qualification.

What do I Need To Do To Obtain this L3 Occupational Health & Safety NVQ?

This qualification consists of five (5) mandatory units and two (2) optional components. In order to achieve the qualification delegates must successfully obtain 23 credits from the mandatory units and a minimum of 9 credits from the optional components.  Your assessor will discuss this with you in detail to ensure that you focus your efforts in the correct areas and on the appropriate units.

This Level 3 qualification provides learners with a range of essential health and safety knowledge and competence, including how to comply with health and safety requirements in the workplace, identify and reduce risks and hazards, control operations safely and conduct risk assessments of a workplace.

Our easy to use ‘on-line portfolio’ system allows delegates to take this qualification in a flexible manner at a time and location that suits them and you will be guided through the qualification requirements by your assessor at each and every step.

Once you have gathered you evidence your assessor will go through the portfolio with you, make any recommendations and provide feedback as necessary.  When you have provided for the feedback and updated your portfolio (as and if necessary) it will be passed to the IQA who will review your evidence and determine whether you have successfully completed the qualification.

IOSH Accreditation and Requirements:

This programme has been accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). Eligible enrolled students can access IOSH Student Membership for the duration of their studies and, on successful completion, they will meet the academic requirements for Associate (AIOSH) or Technical (Tech IOSH) membership.

When students apply to become a Student Member of IOSH, you will be required to upload proof of your student status and your assessor can direct you in making this application.

Frequently Asked Questions About The Level 3 Health & Safety NVQ:

What Will My Assessor Do?

At the very start of your NVQ (upon enrolment) you will be assigned an assessor who will:

a.  Undertake an initial induction with you to determine your readiness to undertake this qualification.
b.  Guide you through the NVQ process from start to finish.
c.  Monitor your progress throughout the time you are undertaking your Level 3 Occupational Health & Safety NVQ. This may be done in a number of different ways such as, confirming the suitability of evidence provided from your workplace activities, undertaking professional discussions with you, undertaking formal observations, requiring you to provide witness testimonials, etc.
d.  Advise you as to the evidence you will need to provide in order to complete each specific unit and your overall portfolio.
e.  Guide you (where appropriate) in gathering the required evidence.
f.  Advise you when your portfolio is ready for submission to the accreditors Independent Quality Advisor (IQA) for the award.

How Long Does This Construction Level 3 NVQ Take To Complete?

The NOCN Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety program requires you to complete five (5) mandatory units and obtain a minimum of nine (9) credits from the two (2) optional components.

The minimum guided learning hours for this qualification is 260 hours – this is the recommended time a learner spends in activities under the immediate guidance or supervision of a lecturer, supervisor or tutor (this includes assessment if under supervision).

The estimated TQT (Total Qualification time) for this qualification is 320 hours – this is the total time in which a delegate could reasonably be expected to achieve the qualification.

As an estimate therefore delegates can expect to complete the qualification within a one (1) to four (4) month period.

There are however many factors that impact the time required to complete this qualification not least the delegates existing, experience and qualifications, and their preparedness/readiness to undertake it.

A number of delegates will be in a position where they can gather evidence very quickly whilst others may require considerably more time. At Goldcross our, Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety program, runs for a 12 month period, with full assessor suport, should it be required.

Are There Any Examinations?

Unlike academic qualifications the NVQ is an assessment of your vocational ability and as such there is no examination requirement. You will however be required to build an ‘on-line’ portfolio providing work-based evidence that you meet the specified standards. We will guide you through this process!

What Payment Options Are There?

This NVQ can be paid for via the Goldcross Training interest free ‘payment plan, allowing you to spread payment over a three (3) month period should you require to do so. This option will be available on the purchase screen if booking online or can be requested when booking over the telephone.

Please note that Goldcross training requires full payment for the NVQ prior to its submission to the IQA for assessment.
